In the first Dual Meet of the season Newport took on the 2007 Kingco Champs Mt. Si. The Knights bolted out of the gates strong picking up wins in the 130, 140, 145, 152 and 160 classes. Kris Koegel pinned Shane Dixon in the first round getting the first pin of the season for the team and himself.

Showing why Mt. Si are the reigning Kingco champs they relied on a full lineup as the Knights have to forfeit the 189, 215, 285 and 103 classes. They quickly closed the gap and picked up wins at the 112, 119 and 125 classes. Although Newport took the loss there were several great individual matches during the meet. Shawn Weisenburgh and Kris Koegel continue to improve, Kevin McCanta defeated Jacob Lund 5 - 1. Steven Erickson defeated Dallas Leibe 5 - 2 and Ian Case pinned KC Bailey in the first round.

Newport goes to Bellevue for a Dual Meet on Thursday the 6th and Lake Washington for both JV and Varsity Tournaments on the 7th and 8th. Come out and cheer on the Knights.
